A Libertarian Senate candidate in Oregon has removed a campaign logo from his website after an ESPN blogger pointed out it bore a striking resemblance to the insignia of the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team.
Mark Delphine's Senate campaign site featured an image showing an American flag wrapped around a star to form a D-shape. The Blue Jackets logo shows the flag of Ohio wrapped around a star in the opposite direction, to form the shape of a "C."

The Blue Jackets responded to fans' concerns about the symbols' similarities over a team Twitter feed, tweeting that "the issue is being looked into." Delphine later told the Yahoo sports blog "Puck Daddy" that the logo had been designed by a volunteer and donated to the campaign, and that he'd been unaware of the similarity to the NHL icon until he started receiving calls about it Wednesday afternoon.
"I don't know if you know anything about Libertarian candidates, but they typically don't have a lot of money coming in," Delphine told Yahoo. "I was thinking this was so nice, but it was too good to be true."
