A roundup of the day's notable Senate/House third quarter FEC totals:
Senate:
-- Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., raised a solid $738,000. More than $625,000 of that haul came since Baldwin formally entered the race in early September. Baldwin is expected to put up big fundraising numbers this cycle, and without a primary opponent, she isn't expected to have to spend as much until the general election as the Republicans, who are fielding a competitive primary.
-- Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine's $1.3 million haul has propelled him to about a $750,000 cash on hand lead over former Sen. George Allen, R-Va.
-- Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., raised just over $1.2 million, she announced on Facebook. McCaskill will report $3.7 million cash on hand. We're still waiting to see what her Republican opponents did. Former Treasurer Sarah Steelman, in particular, will need to show some improvement.
-- Former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz raised $1.1 million and ended the period with $2.4 million cash on hand. It's not a bad haul, but he's running against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who had a huge $2.64 million dollar quarter.
-- Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., pulled in $1.16 million during the third quarter, his campaign announced, bringing his cash on hand total to about $3.1 million. Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., the likely GOP nominee, has yet to release his fundraising numbers, but last quarter he came a few hundred thousand dollars short of Tester's haul, bringing in just over $900,000 to Tester's $1.2 million. Can Rehberg keep pace with Tester this quarter? -- Former Rep. Heather Wilson's campaign reports bringing in $532,000 in the third quarter, with just under $1 million in the bank. It's a pretty good sum, though short of the $650,000 Rep. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., raised. But it is well above the third quarter haul of long-shot Republican primary competitor Greg Sowards, whose campaign on Wednesday reported taking in over $231,000 -- $185,000 of which was a loan from the candidate -- giving him over $496,000 in the bank. But there's still no word yet from Lt. Gov. John Sanchez, whom Wilson outraised last quarter. -- Rep. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., raised $650,000 in the three months ending September 30, bringing his total cash in the back to over $2 million. The money represents a drop from his previous quarter haul of $900,000. But Murphy has consistently led the Democratic primary field in fundraising, outraising both state Rep. William Tong and former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz. This time around neither competitor has posted numbers yet. -- Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., raised $550,000 and has nearly $2.6 million cash on hand. House: -- It's going to be a tooth-and-nail fight in the Democratic primary in the now-open Illinois 8th between former Veterans Affairs Assistant Secretary Tammy Duckworthand former state Deputy Treasurer Raja Krishnamoorthi. Duckworth announced she's raised over $476,000 in her first full quarter, and she had heavyweight names behind her to help with that, including Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and top Obama adviser David Axelrod. But Krishnamoorthi, who impressed in past quarters, also posted a strong $313,000 quarter, and he still has over $635,000 in the bank. Duckworth didn't release her cash on hand number. -- It's no secret Republicans would rather have GOP state Sen. David Rouzer as their nominee against Rep. Mike McIntyre, D-N.C., in the 7th District, and his first fundraising report shows why. Rouzer brought in $200,000 in just the past six weeks he's been in the race and still has most of that in the bank. His chief GOP rival and last year's nominee, Ilario Pantano, raised a paltry $65,000 and has just $29,000 in the bank. Meanwhile, McIntyre's campaign beat both of them: his campaign took in almost $225,000, and ended the quarter with over $555,000 cash on hand. -- Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., easily won the fundraising war this quarter for the primary battle with fellow GOP Rep. Gary Miller in the new 39th District. Royce raised over $352,000 with $3 million still in the bank, while Miller brought in only $54,000, but still has $1 million cash on hand. --Freshman Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., raised a strong $202,000 this quarter, while his chief GOP opponent, former Rhode Island Police Chief Brendan Doherty brought in over $130,000. Former state Rep. John Loughlin, who's currently serving in Iraq, brought in only $23,000. -- Former state Rep. Gary McDowell brought in $155,000 in just two weeks for his rematch with freshman GOP Rep. Dan Benishek in Michigan's 1st District.
